At Seawall Kings, we are the experts you can trust to protect your waterfront property in Florida, and we are also your reliable source for information regarding seawalls. If you are not sure how to determine whether your seawall is failing, there are many signs to watch for that indicate when you need seawall repairs.

- Soil Erosion at the Base – Sunken soil, holes, and gaps near the base of a seawall are all signs of soil erosion. This erosion is problematic because the seawall loses essential support as the soil washes away.
- Water Seepage on the Landward Side – If water is leaking through to the other side of a seawall, this seepage is an indication that soil seepage may be happening as well, which reduces support.
- Cracks in the Wall – Cracks in seawalls often mean that the seawalls are shifting unevenly and may be signs of structural failure. Even seemingly minor hairline cracks should receive attention since they can point to underlying damage.
- Leaning Toward the Water – A seawall leaning in either direction is a cause for concern, but a seawall leaning toward the water is probably due to hydrostatic pressure. This is when water becomes trapped in the soil behind the seawall and the resulting pressure exerts too much force on the wall.
- Separation Between Panels – Take a look at the joints between your seawall’s panels. If there are gaps, then the panels are moving apart and repairs will be needed—provided that the damage isn’t too severe.
If you’ve noticed any of these warning signs, schedule an on-site assessment so we can check out the seawall and provide repairs if necessary.
